The Very Hungry Caterpillar in Nursery

24/11/21

In Nursery we have enjoyed reading one of our core texts; The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children listened so well to the story, making their own predictions and sharing their ideas with one another.

We all loved the story so much that we were inspired and engaged all week in lots of different activities. Here are just a few…

Some very hungry caterpillars visited us in Nursery and nibbled holes in our leaves. Luckily the Nursery children were able to use their amazing fine motor skills to thread in and out of the holes. What super threading skills Nursery have!

The children also enjoyed painting their own hungry caterpillars, they then used their careful counting skills to count how many circles made up the caterpillars body. We are so proud of our clever mathematicians in Nursery!

We also enjoyed tasting lots of different fruits just like the hungry caterpillar did. The Nursery children were brilliant at trying new fruit. We were even lucky enough to taste a Chinese pear! Well done Nursery for giving something new a try.

To help us understand the world we heard about the different stages a caterpillar goes through before turning into a butterfly, just as the hungry caterpillar did in our story. What a beautiful butterfly he turned out to be!

We are so proud of you Nursery, we think you are all superstars in everything you do!
