Spark Something Good – a project and your help….

5/7/16

Archibald First School is looking for some helping hands to transform the school yard…

We are excited to announce that we have been accepted to work with Marks and Spencer through the Spark Something Good Project and been awarded a £1000 grant to do this. This link tells you more about the project scheme –

On Monday 18th July we are looking for as many volunteers as possible to deck their work clothes and come along to school to work as a team. Marks and Spencer’s staff, school staff, mums, dads, aunties, uncles, grandparents – together, we’ll

– Paint three beautiful murals around the yard. One of these is our climbing wall, which the children use regularly.

– Replant our lack-lustre raised planting beds with aromatic evergreen shrubs that our amazing Green Team can tend and learn from.

– Give the benches around school and the EYFS slide a lick of paint to brighten up the school’s outdoor space.

As an added incentive to it being a great day… Marks and Spencer will also be providing refreshments on the day!

There are two time slots which you can sign up to officially on the website however anytime that you or members of your family could spare within these would be very much appreciated.  Volunteers can now register their interest at www.neighbourly.com/mandsvolunteer. If you do not have an internet connect you can sign up by calling neighbourly on 0117 915 1279. The sign up closes 48 hours before the project begins. Click on the ‘Volunteer for this event’ button.

Mrs Bayes and Mrs Turner will be heading off to a DIY store to purchase equipment needed. If you or your company are in a position to help us with this or can provide anything for the day please contact us.

  • Painting sheets, gloss paint – colours to be decided, sandpaper, electric sander, paintbrushes, trowels, evergreen plants, secateurs, hand forks.

This is an exciting opportunity for school to work as a team to transform the outdoor space for the children. We would love your support and involvement.
