Reception Reading meeting

16/10/18

Thank you to everyone who attended our reading meeting last night.

We shared the different strategies for learning to read including phonics, key words and reading books.

We have sent home the power point to help you to remember all the ways you can support your child at home.

You can also find it here.

Reading Meeting 2018

At the meeting we asked if there were any questions.

If they already know the word by sight, is it necessary to go back and break it into the phonics parts?

Once you child can read the word, it is not necessary to use phonics to read it.

We also asked- what was the most useful part of the session?

Finding out the different things we can do help the children their words.

Really reassuring thank you.  Looking forward to enjoying reading.

Understanding about Phonics. Importance  of Reading Books.

Explaining Phonics & Book bag Practicalities

Remembering that having fun with reading at home is the most important thing!

Thank you for the informative session and giving up your time. All really useful.

Good to know it’s not as tricky as it seems. Can be overwhelming for the parent too so feeling reassured. Thank you!

Knowing what approach is being used for letter sounds

Information on the books that will be coming home and the best way to approach reading them.

Great to be given insight into how they are taught-phonics etc-useful for us to continue at home to avoid confusing them.

If you have any questions about reading with your child please come and see us and we are happy to help.
