Let’s Fight Head Lice Together!

14/1/16

Head lice are a normal part of childhood – surveys among primary school children have found that nearly 1 in 10 have head lice at any one time. If you’re a parent you probably know what a hassle it is to treat head lice and just how frustrating it can be when your child comes home scratching their head yet again.

Archibald First School has joined the crusade against head lice by advocating the ‘Once a Week, Take a Peek’ campaign and wants to work in partnership with our families to  help increase the awareness of the need to regularly check for head lice and to work together to hopefully minimise, if not eradicate, head lice within our school.

Each week families will be sent a text out as a reminder to check their children’s hair. We hope that by doing this on a Friday each family will have the time to treat the head lice over the weekend.

The website www.onceaweektakeapeek.co.uk is a brilliant resource with a wealth of information and free downloadable resources for support with head lice. Managing Head Lice is a key page explaining the Golden Rules and the three step process of Check, Treat and Complete!
